T-ball is geared for kids ages 4-6 years old, however if a player is 3 and turning 4 before September 1st they may also join.
Who are the coaches? Who are the Umpires?
Coaches are all parents, siblings, family, or friends interested in volunteering and helping make a good experience for the children. We offer assistance and training for new coaches that would like it. Umpires are also parents, siblings, family, and friends. We offer assistance and training for umpires throughout the year and hold clinics every season.
What is the try-out and how will my child be placed on a team?
Try-outs are held prior to the season starting in order for managers/coaches to view players and evaluate who they might like on their team. This enables a draft to take place so that teams can be selected in a fair and balanced method. All players will make it on a team.
What will my child’s schedule be?
Typically each team will have 1 practice per week and play one to two games per week, this does vary somewhat depending on the number of teams. Games take place Wednesday through Saturdays with different age groups on different days. Practices are scheduled by the manager/coach when it is best suited for the team. Unless there is a special event or tournament, games are generally not played on Sundays.
What might my child need to play baseball/softball?
When is registration and what do I need to bring?
Registration for Fall ball is usually posted on our website in August, while registration for Spring ball will go live on Black Friday. All Players will need to provide proof of residence, provide proof of school registration in Escondido, and have a birth certificate.
What does the registration fee cover?
The league registration fee covers each players jersey, little league insurance, field & game equipment, lighting costs, trash pickup, as well as other operating costs. The league is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers. If you cannot afford the fee we do everything possible to assist. We can work with flexible payment plans or even partial to full scholarships.
What is the difference between Fall and Spring seasons?
The fall season is typically between September and November and is geared more toward instruction. During the fall season Escondido National Little League offers team baseball in various divisions, and clinics for baseball. The spring season is typically the end of February through May and offers more competitive play for the upper divisions, leading to All-Star selection.
What if my child plays baseball for their school also?
Little league exempts players who miss regular season games in order to play for their school. This allows players playing school ball to also play little league and still be eligible for all stars, so long as they attend 60% of the games that they are eligible to play with Little League.
Who do I talk to if I have concerns about my child and/or my child’s coach?
If there are any questions, concerns, or complaints regarding a child's team or coach please get in touch with the Vice President and/or the Player Agent. It is their job to ensure players are treated fairly and in the spirit of little league. Issues can and will be discussed with the Board of directors and action may be taken if needed.
